Submissions

1. All publication proposals must be sent exclusively by email to the series address: lecturas_sociales@uca.edu.ar, as well as any other queries or comments addressed to the publisher.

2. Ensure that both the file and the text of the work are anonymized, without references to the author's name or indications that make authorship evident in the case of citing your own works. A separate file with the author's details must accompany the work. This must include: their email address, the institutional affiliation under which it will appear, ORCID profile and a brief biographical sketch.

3. The submission of any proposal implies the declaration that the work is original and has not been previously published, as well as that there are no conflicts of interest. If there are any doubts in this regard, you can consult through the same channel. The publisher reserves the right to request a written and signed declaration of these conditions.

4. For the general format of the work, consider the points detailed below. In any case, it is suggested to use the template found in the following link, which contains the general format for submitting the works.

5. The works will be presented on A4 paper size, with 2.5 margins on all four edges. The font will be Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing, and justified alignment.

6. It must include a summary in Spanish and English (up to 200 words) and four keywords in both languages. Bibliographic citations will be included under the APA system (7th edition), according to the clarifications detailed below. Direct citations included in the text must be indicated with double quotation marks, within the paragraph, if they do not exceed two lines. Quotations of three lines or more must constitute a separate paragraph, without quotation marks and with the left and right margins shifted 1.25 cm from the text box.

7. If the author quotes directly from a work written in another language, they may be transcribed in Spanish, clarifying once in the footnote that the translations are his/her own or detailing it in each reference in the body of the text, for example: (Smith, 2006, pp. 123, the translation is mine). Foreign words or phrases must be typed in italics and technical terms must be written with single quotation marks.

8. If images must be included, we request that you verify that there are no conflicts in their use related to copyright. In any case, the publisher may again control this aspect. The position that each image should occupy will be indicated in the body of the text. These will be sent in a separate file, preferably in JPG format or similar, 300 dpi, and may be in color.

9. The author must include a list of references (or bibliography) of all cited works according to the APA system 7th edition. All works cited in the text must be included in this section; in turn, all works included in the list must be referred to in the body of the manuscript.

10. Footnotes will not be used for bibliographical references but for comments, expansions or clarifications relevant to what is developed in the body of the text. The font will be Times New Roman, 10 pt, line spacing 1, and justified alignment.

11. It is suggested that the writing be divided into sections appropriately subtitled, according to the following indications:

a. The main title should be centered, in bold and small capitals.
b. Then an abstract in English and Spanish will be included with the title in bold and small capitals. At the end of the abstract in each language the key words will be included.
c. The format of the subtitles will be diagrammed under the following scheme. First-order subtitles in bold and small caps, second-order subtitles in italics and bold, third-order subtitles in italics, and fourth-order subtitles in normal type. A space must be left after each subtitle. The first paragraph after the subtitle must not be indented, the rest of the paragraphs must be indented by 1.25.

12. Tables, figures, and graphs must be incorporated into the text, properly numbered.

Clarifications on APA standards

The following section contains some specific clarifications on APA standards (7th edition). For all those details that are not considered here, the standards officially stated by said entity must be followed or, if in doubt, send an email to lecturas_sociales@uca.edu.ar.

Citations in the body of the text
  • For citations in the body of the text, the reference is entered in parentheses with the author's surname(s), followed by the year of publication and the page. For example (Foxley, 2013, p. 54).
  • In the case of works with more than one author, all authors must be listed the first time they are cited. For example (Camiloni, Basabe et al., 2007, p. 67). It can then be summarized using "et al." (Camiloni et al., 2007, p. 67).
  • Multiple references to the same author will be differentiated as follows: (Carlino, 2005a; 2005b; 2012)
  • If you wish to include a reference to the year of original publication of the text, this year must be cited along with that of the contemporary edition. For example (Lilburne, 1649/1998, p. 46). If the text was extracted from an archive, only the year of original publication should be included and the details of the archive should be included in the complete bibliographic reference at the end.
  • In the case of e-books that do not have page numbers, the citation must include the number and/or name of the chapter from which the citation is extracted, in the original language of the text. For example (Rees, 2016, chap. 3, “The Churches”).
